Join the Concordia University Research Study with Rx Ballroom Dance

Ready to dance for science, and for YOU? We’re partnering with Concordia University Irvine on a 6-month research study to explore how ballroom dance supports people living with neurological conditions. Classes are free for participants and their loved ones, and spots are limited.

Why join?

  • Feel better, move better: Weekly ballroom classes designed for safety, joy, and steady progress.

  • See your progress: Clario sensors will measure posture, movement, balance, rotation, and gait.

  • Whole-person benefits: Short surveys track cognition and emotional well-being—because feeling connected matters, too.

  • No cost to you: Classes and measurements are free for participants and care partners.

Who is this for?

This study is best for members with a neurological condition who are new to dance or haven’t participated much in Rx Ballroom Dance yet.

If you’re currently taking regular RxBD classes, this particular study may not be the best fit—but we’d still love to see you in class!

Timeline at a glance

  • Initial measurements: First two weeks of October 2025

  • Program duration: Weekly ballroom dance classes Oct 2025 – March 2026

  • Final measurements: March 2026 (physical, cognitive, and emotional results shared with you)

Locations (choose the one nearest you)

  • Dance Daly (Mission Viejo)

  • Century Dancesport (Tustin)

  • McCann Dance (Oceanside)

  • Ed Brown Senior Center (Rancho Bernardo)

Control group option (for loved ones)

Care partners or family members can participate in our control group—you’ll receive the same posture/balance/rotation/gait assessments without taking the dance classes.

What to expect

  • Friendly, small-group classes led by RxBD instructors trained to adapt for neurological conditions

  • Quick sensor assessments (they’re non-invasive) and short surveys

  • A warm community that cheers your wins—big and small

How to enroll (spots go fast!)

  1. Pick your preferred location (see list above).

  2. Contact us with your name, phone, and location choice:

  3. We’ll follow up with your measurement appointment window (early October) and first class date.
