Rx Ballroom Dance students, David (82) and Delila (81) danced in the McCann Dance showcase on Saturday, October 26th, 2024 on the stage after only dancing for 9 months. Delila has had Parkinson’s for 13 years and now in their 80s, the two of them never dreamed of getting on stage in front of a performing arts center to do a tango. In fact, Delila spent the first few months in class insisting she was “dumb” or “stupid” because she struggled to make new mind/body connections to the dance choreography.
But that negative self talk, along with her tremors, has begun to disappear as the two of them took the stage and performed to the roaring approval of the audience. Thanks to the instruction of their amazing teachers, Dan and Analiese, David and Delila were ready. With pride and joy you could hear their kids scream “That’s my mom!” They inspired the entire room. But mostly they inspired themselves.
It’s never too late. It’s not impossible. You CAN do it.
One program, changing lives, one tango at a time.

My energy improved, the discomfort eased, and I felt stronger and more capable in my daily life. Incredibly, I also regained much of my stamina, balance, and confidence. It’s been a life-changing experience I feel more…
