Harold & Carolyn Buchman: A First Dance, A Renewed Bond

This year’s Defying Limits Gala marks a beautiful milestone for Harold and Carolyn Buchman—it will be their very first time performing on stage together. But their journey to the dance floor has been anything but easy.
Carolyn, a strong-willed and independent spirit, was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and tendinitis, conditions that left her in chronic pain and unable to walk comfortably. Once active and full of energy, she found herself homebound, unable to take walks with Harold or even their beloved dog. The loss of movement led to deep discouragement and isolation.
Then came dance.
Through Rx Ballroom Dance, Harold and Carolyn found more than just movement—they found each other again. Preparing for their performance has brought them closer in ways they didn’t expect. For Carolyn, dance has become a way to be fully present, to let go, and to trust Harold to lead. For Harold, it’s a chance to connect with his wife in something joyful and meaningful.
Together, they’ve discovered that dancing isn’t about perfection—it’s about humility, connection, and the healing power of rhythm.
On May 10th, when they step onto the dance floor for the first time, it won’t just be a performance. It will be a celebration of resilience, trust, and a love that continues to move—no matter the obstacles.
